I found this bottle cap in Eugene, Oregon last week and haven't had
much luck trying to ID it. It had a cork sealer inside and it looks like the
"baseball cap" attached to it may have been used as the opener. If anyone
can help put a date to it or shed any light on it, I would appreciate it. Thanks
for looking........... Gold Nuggets :icon_jokercolor:

Your welcome. Its NOT the same bottlecap. But I would think that this invention was protected under this patent. Can you gently clean it and get any writing? I think its interesting and Im surprised there are so few found.

As you can see, it is in pretty rough shape and to be honest with you I'm not sure just how to go about trying to clean it. I've got a club meeting the 21st and several members want to see it so will probably try to clean it up after that. Any suggestions??

I dont know. I would guess to soak in water and brush gently with a soft toothbrush. Or try dry brushing first. But I am just guessing. Maybe you can look in the cleaning and preservation section and use the same method as buttons. Maybe its too rusted. :-\

After the meeting, I'll try something and let you know if anything is readable. Thanks again.... GN

That's a cool looking bottle cap design :icon_sunny:

Almost a baseball cap kind of look.

Looks like some kind of special promotion cap such as a world series, etc. Probably a one time deal. Monty
