Need rock/gem appraiser

Hi folks,

I have a whole bunch of rocks/gems in NC that I need to have appraised. Unfortunately I'm in the Raleigh/Durham area and I'll only be here until earlyTuesday morning. I won't have enough time tomorrow to drive out to Franklin or Spruce Pine or any of the other towns in the western part of the state. Does anyone know of a gem cutter/appraiser in the Raleigh/Durham area? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I happy you have all those rocks etc. Finding an honest appraiser isn't that hard. But finding a 'knowledgeable' one is. You might try the internet for your area.

Thanks for your reply. I have searched the internet, but as you pointed out finding a knowledgeable appraiser is the hard part. I'm hoping that by posting here someone will know of an honest and knowledgeable appraiser. Besides, looking for a gem cutter/appraiser was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I tried every search phrase I could think of still couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for. Best I could come up with for this area is a Lapidary Museum that only seems to exist on one website.

lol. My local museum expert and his cohort are both educated fools. Although they mean well...they are only accurate 50% of the time. Not good at all when talking real money! Regardless..hunt for a good one and maintain a good business relationship. It will pay off many times over.
