found this item on an old homestead (1840's) it has a picture of an eagle with the letters of JW in the middle of it and around the edges it says Philadelphia- New York and something i cant make out with the letters E A R I S

It's a lid from a jar -- like this:

One lid is marked on top: Philadelphia - New York- Paris, with an Eagle on top and within a circle on the Eagle the initials "JW".


I think the JW is for John Wanamaker-- that eagle looks like his mark:
