Need info on north carolina

I'm planning a trip to the Beech mountain area of
North Carolina in January. Gonna be there for about a week, in between snowboarding I would love to do some metal detecting. Anyone know of what areas around there I may be able to detect? I'm interested in coin and relic hunting. Thanks

[New Orleans Relic]

I'll be digging some gem mines this spring in the Franklin area. Think more southwest NC than northwest, but not sure yet. Bringing my at-pro and hope to do some detecting. Will be following this thread. Same here, coin and relic. Looking forward to this first time visit. Wondering when temps reach the 50's in the spring. Thinking mid-late May.

I know, I'm excited, here in Florida, colonial relics are hard to come by, so hopefully I'll hit something nice while I'm there. I know the ground will be frozen, but I have the tools to deal with that!
