Until a member pipes in - A good place to get a "feel" on value - is see what EBay is doing...
 

I don't keep any 1960's, but I keep 1950's that are I good shape. Some 1950's in good shape are worth a few cents over face value.
 

1950, D in particular, 1951 S, and 1955 are all good ones to keep for sure. Low mintage numbers.
 

I have sorted a few thousand dollars worth of nickels and don't blink at anything newer than 1945 unless it is obviously a proof or something odd. Maybe I toss some that others would hang on to but that is what I do.
 

Oh and if you find any darker nickels from 58-59 or so, there was an error in the process that darkened them. They're called Black Beauties and if they're genuine, they're worth anywhere from a few to 20 bucks.
