Detector(s) used
Minelab Sov. Elite 5", 8" & 10" coils. EXP II 8" & 10" coils with inline Sunray pin pointer. AT Pro 8" & 10" Coils, Equinox 600 10" and 5" coils.
I found 2 of these at an old home lot. Found a nice GAR pin there also.
These things remind me of carburetor venturis.
Seem to be made of bronze, the dime for size.
Notice the Swastika on both sides, the only marks I could find.

The swastika is an ancient symbol present in numerous and diverse cultures around the world, including the cultures of India, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.

In India, the swastika has thousands of years of history and still retains its place of pre-eminence among the sub-continent's spiritual symbols. It remains one of the most prominent spiritual symbols in Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism, and is found adorning temples and religious shrines throughout Asia.

After its misuse by the Nazis, it became associated with murder and oppression on a scale never before witnessed on this earth. For this reason, in Europe, for many millions, the swastika came to symbolise evil. There arose, as a result of this, a move to ban the swastika.

Jonnnyi is right on this one. It's part of a valve. Probally for gas.

Here are some things about the Crane company. Try a magnet on it. http://www.unitedvalve.com/valve_history.htm

This is a portion of one of the material pages from the 1923 Crane catalog #23. It clearly describes the infamous Crane swastika logo that was applied to their cast steel products. The swastika unceremoniously disappeared from Crane valves in the 30’s as a certain country in Europe began using it.

It's a pit cock( small valve). They were used as drain valves, compression reliefs(old John Deere Hand start) but this style was used for gas on gas stoves or hotplates. I'll post a pic later if I get time. Tony

The swastika had been used during the time of Herculaneum as well (neighbor to Pompeii). I took this shot of the floor when some friends and I went to visit it back in 1988.

Nice finds!
