Can't make out all the letters.
Any help on what you can read.

I can see “GESETZ”, which is German for “law” and possibly followed by a letter ‘L’ without a space. It might possibly be the beginning of the phrase “gesetzlich geschützt” which is often seen on German items… meaning “patented” (protected by law). The angle of the picture isn't good for reading the other word(s).

The star of David may or may not have a Jewish connection, but could just be an emblem with no particular significance… especially if before about 1897. No idea what it is. Looks like it might be some kind of fastening stud.

I would be sure it's German. Here's a German button c1890 with a "gesetzlich geschützt" backmark to indicate the design is patented.

If that's what it says, it wouldn't be usual to see it on the front of a clothing button, but might well be seen on the front of something more utilitarian such as a knob, handle, stopper, popper, stud or whatever.

Interesting piece... IMO this is something German Jew related... you have The Star of David surrounded by German Gesetzlich.

This may be some "marker" /"mark" for something.... it is IMO again... Hitler related.
