Found both of these buckles in the woods about 20' apart. It looks like they are similar in use but built differently as both have two "teeth". The brass buckle has the letters J. R. M. on the back. I have looked online but haven't found anything to match. Was detecting an old Indian camp where .45-70 casings were also found. Buckle 1.JPGBuckle 2.JPG

The one with JRN is a trouser waist adjuster buckle, and I suspect the other one is too. Mid to late 19th century.

Steve in PA, Thanks for the help!!!!

Nice couple of buckles...
Perhaps there are some 18th century ones lurking nearby?

I didn't find anymore buckles but I did find an interesting copper tube that has silver plating on the textured center section. I have no idea what it is but it is 9/16" wide and 2-7/16" long. Each end has two raised rings with twelve raised bumps inside the rings. At first thought it was a lip stick cover but both ends are open.

Thanks everyone for your help. I finally found them online, called suspender buckles and vest clips, mid 19th century.
