White's DFX
I need someone for advice on setting my dfx.Today I finally found the best place in s.e.Texas to detect at.Back in the 1800's there was a hot spring where people would come from all over to bathe in the mineral water. There was a huge hotel there and all of the wealthy people would gather. It burned down around 1904.I found an old man that lives near to show me the site.I was there 25 years ago,but could not find it.It has really overgrown.I detected for 5 minutes but got a lot of nail signals. There used to be bath houses around the spring. How should I set my detector to bypass the nail signals?I would really appreciate any help.I am going back in the morning. The old man said he brought his 1970 radio shack detector there 20 years ago,and he found an 1886 silver dollar.

I would run the stock coin and jewelry program. Listen for solid repeatable tones. The DFX actually works really well, but the tones it makes and the manner in which it makes them makes you feel that you are missing things. When you hear a solid repeatable signal then you can look at the display. You will be able to go back to that site many times, correct? Go back after a recent rain to get more depth.

I use the coin mode and reset the a/c sensitivity and the pre amp gain ussually 76 and 3 respectively up the d/c sens. to 45 for the nails maybe try a bottle cap reject of 10 that should ignore the nails. That works good for the ground here in virginia. Don

also, search in 4 tone, and dig all the high tones. don't look at the screen, let your ears do the work

there is no 4 tone just tone id which has 191 tones very confusing especially to those who never used a minelabe with thier multi tones.

I would use a small coil like the 5.3 or 4x6DD, It really helps in heavy trash. Also increase recovery speed, helps separate targets that are close together. Works for me where I hunt. Good luck, Niffler
