Need help with lead coin

Found this in Culpeper, VA and have no clue. Any help would be appreciated! Anyone ever seen something like this?

looks like it's supposed to represent a california fractional gold piece. I've seen similar ones that were used as decoration on bracelets and even sash belts. I dug one years ago that was made of thin stamped brass.

It may also have been plated at one point & used as a gaming token, with a hole added later.
