I dug this in Rhode Island in an area with a lot of old stone walls which I believe date back to at least the late 1700s. First time at this spot and only managed to dig a few targets. I dug a small ox shoe, a horseshoe, some shotgun shells and this lead item. The lead is holed on two sides and has bits of leather still in the holes. The lead has a nice white patina to it. I’ve never dug anything like it, figured I’d post it and see if anyone has any ideas on what it could be. Thanks for looking. 267FC3B0-B45D-4B33-AA71-F4350723F0A2.jpeg92B96BCB-C579-41DD-8B61-B59BB43ED954.jpeg2F0545BD-D9D3-47EF-BE4A-21057343A270.jpeg

It does look like it's been in the ground for a while.

Hand cut/carved/drilled. Maybe a 'quick fix' attempt to repair... who knows what. Lead and leather have been used for all sorts of things over the past few centuries.

I did find it interesting that the indentation on the face vaguely resembles the Star Trek symbol.
