Hello,
I found an old shoe buckle that I need help identifying. It has a possible makers mark on the back with 3 stars, and It is made from brass. The permission I was hunting was from the late 1600s. I did find a 1785 Connecticut copper about 5' from the buckle. Any extra info would be greatly appreciated

Based on the design of the interior parts of the buckle and the pin terminals, I would say 1750-1780 as a date range.

VTcolonialdigger is correct on the age. That's a nice buckle.

Could this possibly be a makers mark?

They certainly could be. If they are, there is a chance they might be the mark of a small, localized maker, rather than a well known maker, in that case the marks may not be documented, and it may be difficult to track the maker down. Just my thoughts.
