And would not there be a date above the reverse shield on a real coin?

not all of them, many were just mintmarked.

Specifically:

Looks completely wrong.

The Obv & Rev legends are correct in there lettering however the letters themselves are not the right style.

The crown is very bad.

The eye is incorrect.

The edge of the coin is missing without looking like its been clipped.

The colour is wrong

The two imperfections on the shield are not caused when hammering a coin.

The letters are fairly clear but the mintmark is not.

The ruffles collar on her neck is incorrect.

No beading on the inner circle.

Other than that is a pretty good copy.

why would copy in ground found in 1600 site

must be real then ::)

If you don't want to know what it is, don't post in this section asking for an ID. Sorry to be blunt, but when I find out what things are, I'm happy to learn. Thats what makes this hobby enjoyable.

why would they copy a coin like this and is there a way mayby to find when it was copyed thank you

I would say it was a fairly recent copy, last 50 years or so. But I'm not an expert in copies & others on here have a better idea on that.

Here is one I found & you should be able to see the difference:

Crusader, I thought every question rcbaker asked was appropriate toward learning more about his find. I disagree with the insinuation you make that he doesn't want to know and shouldn't post in this section unless you know something the rest of us don't. I wished you would have posted your last response in place of some of your previous ones. That one was very helpful, enjoyable and informative. I agree with you when you say learning makes this hobby enjoyable but I sure had a hard time enjoying what I learned here. :icon_scratch:

;D
Did you notice that too??
I just thought the Crusader had too much coffee this morning or a bad day on the battlefield with those pesky Non-Christians!

Welcome to TNet RCBaker and drgest - its a great forum and hopefully will be more so with your positive contributions. There is a wealth of knowledge here and people are always keen to give you a hand. Just bear in mind that the written word (especially poorly constructed ones) can be taken many ways. RCBaker was given an answer by a very experienced member, and questioned it, was given another answer by that same experienced member and questioned it, was given another answer and questioned it again. Depending on how you read the questions it could be taken a number of ways - every once in a while you have to realise that people are going to take things you say differently than they were intended. Please don't become one of those people who form online posses to make matters worse against an individual that could be having a bad day but made the effort to help you anyway.

If you read the top policy from PBK, you may understand better.

I was not my usual self, so apologise to the poster for my brash response. There have been a few incidents recently where members fail to accept that a spade is a spade. I thought the poster was questioning my opinion because he knew better, I'm only human & can't be sweetness & light all of the time. I will still spend as much time IDing on this page, as spreading knowledge is as important as gaining it.

I agree with Crusader...it's a copy...and a very recent one at that. You can buy these for a buck at souvenir stores and the like. I just picked up a pouchful for my neice and thie was one of the coins. They are close in comparison but no where near the quality and composition of the originals.

...and don't think that Crusader was being snarky...even though he may think so himself. ;D
