Hey guys! I found a western union button with 2 hands shaking in the middle but after some research can't find that particular button. I am interested in the date in which it was made more than anything.

Also, found these 2 vintage diecast toys in the same hole about 8" down. Thought i had me a morgan dollar but oh well. Did find a 63 dime today. ;) I have cleaned the cars and can only make out the first 3 letters of the manufacturer which are Ren. Love to have a date and maker for these.

Thanks and happy hunting!

The button is an overall button, circa 1900-1908

Thanks so much creskol and nhbenz for the info. I had no idea that western union had overall buttons. The date on the button helps me date the old home place that has been torn down so I really appreciate that. Was told it's from the 1850's so I hope to find some good stuff there.

I am not sure there is any correlation between Western Union Telegraph Company and the Western Union overall button. Clasped hands is a symbol of brotherhood, and was very popular in organized labor. It was adopted by garment workers union in 1878, and is thought the members who made work clothes were instrumental in having the symbol placed on these overall buttons. There are at least 9 different Union Made overall buttons bearing the same symbol.
