Hey Chris,

Don't forget some of the resacas have alligators. Thats no joke either. It was in the papers if you don't believe me. Be careful and don't swallow any of the water. Last thing you need is to be called lefty and have a bad case of amebic dysentery. :-\ Good luck and don't break a leg :D Let us know what you found.

Wattle is a bound or wrapped bundle of branchs, straw or grasses hat have the ability to float and support limited weight. Used for erosion control...

And if gators are in the area...forget the wattle...you will learn real quick how to walk on water.

I wasn't sure about the word resacas, we call them lagoons.

sorry guys for the weak info. a resaca is a dry riverbed that used to be connected to a major river and due to nature no longer is but the water is still there. the object retrieving would be several chests containing coins. however the exact weight or such is unknown. yes there are trees and palm trees around it and the bottom is more like mud and can sink very easily. however the depth of the resaca is like 10 feet maybe could be more the chests are close to the edge maybe 2-4 feet out of the edge. the resaca is about in feet could say 50-60 feet wide, and the other resaca where the other stuff is is like maybe 20-30 feet wide and yes there are 3 of us doing this.
thanks guys
chris

heavy rope or cable between the trees and linked to each person doing retrieval would be a good idea along with some type of flotation device. once you find the chests, the wood is probably rotted so the winch idea may result in a big mess when the chests break. you may have to find a way to remove the coins by hand without disturbing the chest too much.

If you have pinpointed the chests, is it possible to damn up either side, and thereby pump out the watery mud, like is done withfloodwater? If the location is only 10 ft deep as you say, might be plausible...
