Need help id'ing this buckle

A smaller buckle in size, the letters I can make out on the reverse read as follows, I believe: ATAI?R. ZO 1871. There is also the letters PLB underneath that with the L above the other two letters in a wine glass.

I could be wrong on the date and lettering.

The stamped info should be " month, day, and year", and some sort of abbreviation of "patent or patented or patent applied for."

No idea on use, but seems too flimsy for a work harness buckle?

To my eyes, it says "PAT. APR. 20, 1871"

I know it is possible to look up a US Patent by its date. I know how to find a Patent by its number, but not by just the date. Perhaps somebody else here can help you do it by the date.

Thank you for all of the information guys. I saw at my local library the patent books for the last two centuries, perhaps I can look it up there.
