Hello all -

I found a really unique lamp and cannot find anything online to help ID it. It is all metal (non-magnetic), and very heavy. It does have a plastic coated electrical cord, and a plastic push button start, but the metal shade is so different and I can’t find anything similar. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank you!
Megan

Welcome to Tnet.

The patent numbers and other information on the footswitch are those used by the Danish luxury lighting manufacturing company Louis Poulsen. Their designers include(d) Arne Jacobsen and Poul Henningsen.

Poulsen’s main markets are Scandinavia, Europe, Japan and United States. Note that there is a CЄ mark indicating legislative conformity for goods sold in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the mark was first introduced in 1993.

I haven’t searched extensively for your particular lamp (and the shade may not be original) but their website is here, and you might find it if they still make that model:

Oh wow - thank you so much for taking the time to look into this! That is good to know about the patent identification - I did not realize how much information was on that little piece of plastic! I had never heard of this company/designer, so this is fascinating to me. I just love beautiful, functional things, and certain items catch my eye. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me!!

You're most welcome Megan.

You may not find your lamp with Poulsen's branding. It could have been a custom design for a high end department store.

I just noticed that among the other certification/conformance marks, there is also 'CQC' mark for the China Quality Certification Centre. The organisation didn't exist under that name until April 2002, so the lamp is more recent than that.

It doesn't necessarily mean that particular lamp was also sold in China since the footswitches were universal to multiple styles of lamp.

Sometimes I think Red-Coat could be a Banner find on Treasure Net., being from the UK on a U.S. detecting form.
Could not agree with you more sprailroad. I research my items before posting here and on so many occasions Red-Coat has got the answers in such a short period of time. He seems to pull the rabbit out of the hat like magic.
People like Red-Coat and others is what makes this forum so great .....
