Hi And thank you in advance for any help you can share. And happy 4th of July as well. I have this wool blanket that I’m trying to figure out information on. Possibly age, maker or anything on it. It’s a well done piece. Looks to be hand made. But could be wrong. I took pictures of stitching and all. But any help is appreciated. The size would be a full of guess.

Most blankets had a manufacture tag sewn on one corner.
If not there's other ways of determining the age or even if it's a HB Points blanket.
This link breaks down the highlighted areas and explains them in some detail.

As a fan and informal collector of old wool blankets , I don't recognize yours.

The sources are many.
Yours appears to have the great loft of older blankets.

Size (in inches ) and weight you might want for comparing to other blankets.

Forced to try to find comparisons ., I might start with some older " Orr " brand with yours. But keep an open mind.

Congrats. It looks nice in the pictures!

Thank you all for your help. Did all Hudson Bay blankets have the point lines like the majority have. This does not. Looks like st one time there may have been a label. I’ve attached photo and circled in black what looks like at one time a label? Size of this is 79x72.

"Points" have been sewn in since the mid seventeen hundreds when the French began adding them.

Witney and probably others added them.
Hard to call it an H.B. just because a blanket has points sewn in /on it.

For more fun , I've a label with a prominent H.B. on it. Hudson Bay? Nope.
(Horn Brothers. )

Four stripe blankets gained some making in the mid eighteen hundreds.

With the dimensions of 79X72, it rules out it being a saddle blanket, as they are 35X35.

go to ebay and search "wool blanket" you might find yours or a similar one that has a tag. Hart Bro.s rings a bell, think they were in N.Y. and made nice blankets. Even Sears (maybe Wards) made decent wool blanket line called golden dawn.
