I found this pocket watch in an antique store and I'm having a lot of trouble identifying it or finding a data base for the serial number. The face says Qte Jacot Locle. I know that Jacot was a renowned watch maker in the town of Locle, Switzerland in the late 1800's. However, the marking on the case has me confused. Almost all of them seem to be inscribed by hand. They carry some of the same verbiage as other watches I've seen, but nothing matches up exactly and it seems "sloppy" compared to other inscriptions. I think that this may be a one of a kind original, or fake, or combination of both. If anyone can shed some information on it, I would greatly appreciate it. The dust cover has a stamp with what I assume are the metal content of the case. The serial number is at the bottom that matches the back cover with a symbol of a fish above it. No serial number on the watch movement that I can see. However, there is what appears to be a hand inscribed eagle on top of the world symbol on one of the arms. See the pics below and thanks in advance for any help. I have to make a decision by tomorrow or they will stop holding it for me.
