It sorta looks like a .56 caliber Colt revolving rifle bullet, but I am not real sure.

Actually I think it may be the .56 cal colt revolving rifle. The ones I saw at first had a dimple in the base but I just saw some online that are flat like mine. Although it did not specify union or Confederate.

Got just enough energy tonight for one post. You civil war bullet is a .54 Burnside. In addition to its body shape and its grooves being a match-up with the most common version of Burnside bullet, the length and diameter you report match up within a few thousandths-inch to the Burnside's specs in the "Handbook Of Civil War Bullets & Cartridges" (HoCWB&C bullet #89). The .56 Colt Revolving Rifle bullet (#96 in HoCWB&C) has a much more pointed nose, and its lower body groove is higher up on its base than the Burnside's lower groove.

Thank you very much. I really Appreciate you staying up to resolve mine. I already had a Burnside cartridge
now I have a bullet to go with it.
