Just curious if anyone can tell me how I might go about finding out if this military helmet is authentic. It was found while going through an old abandoned house we had permission to salvage. I'm curious what era and branch it might be from. The inside has leather straps. Thanks to anyone that can give me any information and value. Thanks, Kathy

Yes its authentic. the insignia is for the 5th US Army (obviously then it's army) it looks to be missing the nape strap and the chinstrap is broken.

there will be a makers mark in the crown of the helmet which will identify the maker. but the liner itself is WW2 era, but the name and insignia say Korean War to me which it was common for ww2 surplus to be used throughout Korea and even into vietnam and further.

For reference heres a ww2 liner that was painted white, but otherwise pretty mint

and the makers mark.

Thank you for the information and sharing your knowledge. I appreciate it. I didn't want to let the kids have it unless it was a reproduction.
