Hello this is my first post since joining, and what a fitting one. Im hoping to find some info on a rock that I fount while Detecting in the White County Area of Tn. I didnt find it with my detector only my eyes as it was on the ground and I happened to see it. Ive been told it quartz and I'm no expert so I have no reason to believe otherwise except while under a light the rock looks to hold silver and goldlike pieces. Now Id be a fool to get my hopes up, caused ive seen finds from other that are far more appealing then mine but im curious and borderline just busting this thing open somehow to look. If its worth something more then it would be busted up id like to know. Any help is much appreciated and if I need to post more pics with different angles, lighting, closer, ect... Just let me know. Thanks guys

If the gold colored flecks shine like gold when in the shade, you might have some gold ore. If they only shine when in bright light, then it's probably mica.

Thanks everyone for your replies, much appreciated.

Apparently my area is known for quartz. Agate is our state mineral as of 2004 if I'm correct. Does anyone know if this find could possibly be of value maybe sold for someone's collection or for a display?? And what are coming dances of crushing this piece and AU being present? I'm going to post other photos that Ive taken with my iPad that present a better image for you guys. Ill try to get some with natural light and some under florescent. Once again thanks guys.
