Hi all,
I just joined this forum tonight in the hopes of trying to identify a pair of small but heavy vases I acquired from my great grandfather about 40 years ago. They are slightly different as can be seen in the picture, but similar in a lot of ways. Apparently his brother was a merchant marine in the late 1800's, and these were brought over from China or India by him. There are no markings to indicate maker, country, etc. ; just the design work on the sides. One is 4" tall, the other 4 1/4". They are just under 2" in diameter in the middle. The taller one weighs 7 oz. ; the shorter weighs a bit more - 8 oz.
Don't know if that plus the picture is enough to go on, but it's a start....
Tnks
