Dug in England...but not by me (I bought it from assumed finder). Anyway....I know it's a Roman denarius, but is it one of Vespasian or Galba? Kinda looks like Vespasian but has a skinnier neck--- so also kinda looks like Galba.

Seated Roma (?) figure with helmet facing left on the reverse. Can only read "AVG" in the obverse legend but I do see the legend goes all the way around the head of the emperor. Can anybody tell which emperor? Thanks!

You can clearly see or part of Galba, in front of his nose, it should have IMP behind his head, is this a scan of the coin?

Yes this is the scan of the coin. And just now I took it out to look closely at it again... the "G" in front of his nose appears to be part of "AVG" and after the 'G' the letters are pretty worn/muddled. Don't know that they can ever be made out. But as for the "IMP", upon taking a closer look, THAT seems to be rounded beneath the neck! But I would absolutely love this to be a Galba.

I would bet by the Obverse image that it is Galba, but it looks in poor condition, any chance of a Macro picture.:dontknow:

well, I know how to do a basic scan...might take some help to get a macro pic. But I'm feeling more hopeful about Galba now (so that would fill another tough hole in my 12caesars collection-- with otho still to go!) It is interesting that an "A" seems to be visible after the "G" in the scan, but it's not so evident when looking at the coin in person. Thanks Silver Searcher!
