Need Help Dating Military Wings

I obtained these wings in collection of badges and Veterans items from the 1880s and 1890s. Just curious if this set of wings dates to this era, and if it is related to GAR or if its military issue. Measures 4" wide. Brass composition, painted colors. Hope someone here can shed some light on them.

It doesn't pre-date 1909 (first US Army purchase of a heavier-than-air flying machine from the Wright Brothers). ;-)


Those are the droopy wing UK style - I'll see if I can hunt up anything.

This one is close. WWII Pilot Instructor pin (Civilian instructor of military pilot trainees)

I don't know that this is any help, but look at the pic of the back. It looks like the wings had something hanging off of them. (?)

In my opinion they would appear to be patriotic/sweetheart wings, as they aren't of the (more solid) construction of any military wings I'm familiar with, and they seem a bit "fancier" than military wings. My guess would be that they were from the WWII years. However I can't say I've seen any just like them, but there was quite a wide range of patriotic items then. Still a nice collectible even if this is correct.
