Ok so here's the scenario.. There's a hole in a creek about 15ft x 15ft over 4ft deep. You know that there's A LOT of gold at the bottom. You have a length of 50ft of 3 inch dredge hose, another 3 inch piece that's 10ft, 65ft of 2 inch, and 50ft of corrugated Big-O tubing. There's about 7 or more feet of drop above the hole over the first 50ft then it levels off. There's a gradual drop below the hole probably 2.5-3ft of drop over the first 50ft downstream. Any really smart people on here know of a way I could combine the dredge hose I've got to gravity dredge the hole out? This ones been driving me up a wall I just bought extra hose because I had a crazy idea to make it work but it didn't work out too well. I had been working on that hole for a while but now the hole is just so deep that I cant do much with it. If all fails I'll end up siphoning all the water out of the hole with all 3 hoses so i can climb down there and bucket the material up on the bank to run through the sluice later.

Decided to just use the 65 ft hose to divert the water past the hole then drain the hole with one of the other 3 inch lengths, bucket everything out and sluice it once its clean. Don't want to fail with crazy gravity dredging schematics anymore just going to finish it. Keeping it simple. Might be more work and labor intensive than just sucking everything up but have to compromise. Ill make a post when I get to the bottom of my glory hole.

Hey I would really love to see what you get out of there though. :)
Post some pics of up your setup too when you can (without giving away you spot of course.)

Ill post what I find. Not too sure about pics of the setup yet though. I'm thinking about making some videos gravity dredging maybe in some other places that I go.

Well that didn't work out as planned... I need to wait until there's less flow. It's way too high to divert it right now. If I can't get it to work when it's low than ill have to wait for the creek to dry up and bucket the material home to process it... Ill be busy for a while if that's what I'm going to do...

An interesting concept this siphon dredging sounds simple enough

Yeah it is. There's not enough drop to pick up gravel and rocks. So I figured I could just suck water and drain the hole. Have to come up with something a little more creative though. Tomorrow I'm going gravity dredging somewhere else though ill try to make a video.

I'd like to see that. Aren't you around the auburn area? Trying to plan for tomorrow too, just wondering what area your workin

Went gravity dredging today but I didn't do too good. Picked a spot with a lot of roots so it took forever to suck it out.

Going panning/sampling/sniping at the same place tomorrow ill make a post when I get back.
