It's my day off, and since it snowed here AGAIN today, I've resorted to cleaning out a few boxes of junkque. I have a jar of post CW/modern buttons, and would like to get some dates for them. Since I am interested in the Civil War, my knowledge of these buttons is very limited. Any and all info would be appreciated. Breezie

ChipV, thanks for the ID on #1 as a World War I Collar Disk for Infantry. What does the "C" mean? Breezie

I concur that the Infantry Collar Disk is WW1-era. The "C" designated a company with an Infantry Battalion. What's interesting is that this "C" looks like it used to be a "G". Some Snuffy from "C" Company probably lost his collar disk, got ahold of one from "G" Company, and turned it into a "C". Apparently he wasn't too good at hanging onto things becasue it appears that he lost this one, too!
Also, the back isn't broken, there is a threaded keeper that screws onto the post on the inside of the collar. The collar had a small round buttonhole that this post would go through. Marine Corps collar emblems are attched the same way to this day.

Anyway, that's my 2-cent's worth on your "junque"

SgtSki
