No I'm stumped.

4e Régiment Etranger (4th Foreign Regiment) - but this is Army (Foriegn Legion).

I can't figure out a 4th Regiment which was Navy :dontknow: :dontknow:

Regarding "marine", that's a good question. It seems from what I've read that this particular 4th was part of the naval artillery, but maybe that needs to be cleared up. Of course "marine" is derived from the French word anyway so it's a little confusing.


I see what you're saying and was looking at the first pic.

I think we are on the same page because this is what I call a birdcage shank. The turret type don't seem to be near as high off the back.
