Found while metal detecting an 1860s California mining site in Siskiyou county.
This buckle wreath unlike others I have found is cast brass I believe. Measurements follow, 1.78" tall, 1.9" wide at the wreath, 1.3" wide at tongue. There is no embossing, it is plain. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1496672524.853871.jpg

Can't help, but that is a interesting surround - Nice find!

Most were stamped, so you got a quality piece being cast-

One member here LOVES tongue/wreath buckles, I'm sure he'll be chiming in soon.

Thank you, it dose appear to be the same wreath. I'll go back to the same site and try again to find the other half...the tongue part. This site still amazes me, all the helpful members.
