I was recently given permission to metal detect a 90 acre farm that used to be a slave plantation. The original plantation house burnt down and another house was built but I'm not for sure if it was on the same site. The new house dates back to the 1880s. There are four big fields and a lot of wooded areas, pond, outhouse, and a few old barn sites. I live on the coast and the woods grow really fast around here. So I dont know the location of the original fIelds. This is a lot of land and will take for ever to cover the whole area. Where would you guys start to look? Keep in mind the fields that are there have crops on them in the spring and summer. Would you suggest searching the fields first since theres no crops in them now? Should I go straight to the house. What are some good techniques to search huge fields? I am really excited about this place and want to make sure I do it right. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks
