Nice find though i don't think a spoon has some kind of political attitude. Looks like German Air Force cutlery to me. The eagle is the one used by reconnaisance units. For comparison, this is a spoon my father brought back with the standard Air Force eagle. Look for stamps on the back of the handle. It shows the unit the spoon came from.

Sorry Westfront, I realized I had asked, yet another, stupid question. I'm really glad you illuminated this issue! I was beginning to try and rationalize the relationship between the third Reich and the Blue Bird Of Paradise.

It may not be from the Third Reich, Swastikas were symbols of good luck used very frequently in the USA prior to the outbreak of WWII.

great Id cool finds

I'm no expert but that appears to indeed be a legitimate Third Reich spoon. Congrats very cool find!!

Edit, Sorry I mistook the photos westfront posted for the OP's spoon. I now see the swastika symbol on the OP's spoon and I am not familiar with it.

That eagle looks funky. Never seen one like that. No idea. Gary

Thats the point.
The ones posted by me and Kray are the common Luftwaffe eagles. The one on the spoon Crabstang found has the downward looking eagle as on the Observer Badge, but has open wings. Open wings with downward looking eagle is the combinated Pilot/Observer Badge. That and the a bit weird looking style makes me think Trench art or at least a not official issue. Otherwise, FL.U.V. stamping means it is from the "Pilots accomodation management", so the spoon itself is original Air Force.
