I went to my local store today and they have a Coin Star there so I decided to check it. Normally there is nothing in there but today there was one lone coin, and boy was I in for a surprise. I picked up the coin and at first I thought it was a penny until I looked at it and I saw that it said 1 Reichspfennig from 1938 so I knew it was a German coin and I flipped it over and I saw that is was a eagle holding a swastika and when I saw that I was in shock. My only guess for the reason it was there is that the area is surrounded by multiple retirement houses and maybe one of them served in WW2 and brought it back as a war trophy. The 1 phenning was use by G.I.s as a way to get free beer. Everyone who didnt have one had to buy the other guys beer also. Never seen one with a swatiska, while plenty of eagles remain, the swatiskas have been removed.

Rare coinstar find. Somebody is going to wonder where it went. Congratulations!

that is weird interesting fact the symbol didn't used to be bad a U.S.A platoon used it. it was a native american symbol for good luck in till hilter took it over then they they changed it. good find

yeah many cultures used it for a long time before it was altered and misused.

sweet find got that treasure hunting radar always going amazing old relic

Worth way more than a penny

I have a few somewhere in one of my drawers. They were brought back as souvenirs. As has been said, the swastika was a symbol for good luck. It is found above the entrance way into a Buddhist Temple. It was also on the early Boy Scouts of America Coins.
Nice save.
