Cedarrat - Send me a Pm let's talk :D

I contacted a couple of mineral/gem collectors on Ebay to see if they would be interested in the first specimen. Both people asked me how much I want for it?? I was kind of hoping they would offer me something for it because I have no idea what to say..

I have been looking around the internet for similar specimens to place a value on mine but they all seem to pick numbers out of the air for theirs. Do you all have any suggestions?

Cobalt, Ontario, Canada.

History Lesson!

The Cobalt Silver Rush started in 1903 when huge veins of silver were discovered by workers on the Temiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway (T&NO) near the Mile 103 post. By 1905 a full-scale silver rush was underway, and the town of Cobalt, Ontario sprang up to serve as its hub. By 1908 Cobalt produced 9% of the world's silver, and in 1911 produced 31,507,791 ounces of silver. In total, the Cobalt area mines produced 460 million ounces of silver. Some silver assayed out at 4,000 ounces to a ton of ore.

really nice cryptic!first silver nuggetts (natural) that i've seen.ought to auction like in the rock forum.i'd bid on one.

Very cool! As far as pricing goes I would have the silver tested for purity I guess. Then go from there. If you have a 5oz rock and you think it's 2.5 oz of silver start the bid at $20.00-$25.00 dollars. You might get double your asking price since it's a unique specimen. Good luck and congrats on your find.

Don't be short sheeting these beautiful specimens. A great specimen has little to do with silver content.
It's not always about what the crush value is. These are pretty. They tel me a pretty woman is worth about 90 cents in minerals.

When you mention a forum for auctioning rocks like this, where is it?

Cryptic, those are fantastic! Several years ago we had another bloke who also found nice silver specimens. Jim something.

Since pricing is difficult, would you trade 1-2 pieces?
My old man makes jewellery, so I'd like to surprise him with such a specimen.:headbang:

EU - If it doesn't work out, PM me and let me know what you are after and I will try to help you out. I don't have the quality and quantity that Cryptic has - when we detect together, he usually kicks my butt. LOL
