I believe that is an 18th century belt axe or tomahawk. Could have been used by frontiersmen and/or native Americans.

The square front poll looks modern. I do not think it is an 18th century piece. There are a lot of blacksmiths making these styles of axes these days. I have never seen an antique one with the front part of the socket squared off. Could also be European, they used this style blade right up to modern times, but the squared off socket still makes it newer.

I'm not going to say it isn't old. But it looks too well made to be a trade axe.

Square hafting area indicates a German style dating back to 1700s but as stated before, people are still making this style.

I stumbled onto a site that had similar shape hafting. They had biscay trade axes that had a flat end. Some were beaten flat from use. This one isnt quite square. The blade end is rounded. Still trying to find the Touch Marks that match. Smallfoots description square hafting got me in the right search. I need to keep looking. All help has been appreciated.
