Native American hand axe/scraper?

Found this artifact? Close to the Uwharrie forest in NC. It was in the dirt of an uprooted tree 20-30’ up a bank of a small creek that leads to Badin lake. It fits in my hand as perfectly as a hand axe/scraper. The markings on the edge looks like a small tool was used to make the edge. I don’t have a lot of knowledge about these things so I was posting to see if anyone can give any information about this or know of similar tools.

It looks like a natural rock to me.

Not sure how this could be possible, and am not saying thats what it is, but the serration on the edge of the item looks like a mouse/rat/squirrel chewed on it.

Looks chewed to me too, if it’s stone maybe an animal looking to wear its teeth or fill a mineral need? Natives didn’t shape stone that way

I think it's an interesting and probably rare example of what goes on in nature. Add it to your rock garden as a conversation piece. It's a great specimen to educate folks. I'd a sure love to have taken that to show and tell as a kid in grade school. I'll bet the teacher would've been blow away.

Researchers have also documented rodents chewing on certain rocks that contain calcium, magnesium, and other minerals the animals need.
