Here are 2 artifacts/rocks I have found in the same general area while out just looking around/metal detecting/gold panning. I have no idea if they are man made or formed by nature. If anyone has any input please let me know. I will make 2 posts...one for each artifact/rock.

The shape of this one fits my hand very well. I tried to make the sunlight show the shape better.

Here is the second one. The raised part fits my hand well. There are even indentations for all my fingers when holding it. The top appears to be stained by something. Then again, this could all be my imagination.

Thanks for the input Rock. I looked at some of your other posts and you seem pretty knowledgeable in this area. I don't really look for artifacts, I just happen to see these two rocks and they caught my attention.

Yeah I pick up strange rocks all the time. Bring them home, clean them and then I am usually taking them back. Once in a while I hit a score and it is worthy of keeping it. Ill show you this one its the best rock I have found all yr so far. I knew it was different cause it was square 2.5 inches on all faces. Unless its crystals it doesnt happen too often to be a perfect shape. I found out it is a Cubic Nutting Stone made by hand by Native American Indians. They actually used all faces of it to crack nuts for food processing. Its rare due to the cubic shape. So not all rocks with a strange shape are just rocks. HH, rock

I'd say the breakage on both is natural, but the second one could have definitely been put to use, had they found it.
As rock said, keep looking!
