Native American artifact or really cool stone?

Howdy folks today I found this really interesting stone on the bank of Stones River in Murfreesboro, TN while fishing (not even metal detecting!). It really stood out to me and it reminded me of an Indian "inkwell" I had previously seen on this site. It just looks to perfect not to have been altered by someone. A friend of mine is convinced that it is just a cool natural rock but I'm really leaning towards artifact. What do you think?

PS: The stone is a little larger than a silver dollar.

in my humble opinion, it looks natural. but if i had found this in a feature, i would call it a natural stone used as a possible "paint cup".
