nailed a $1000 nugget in 25 minutes

Hi all, after posting my lastest finds this morning , have been back to my new site in a place called German Gully. Only there for a few minutes i spotted an old axe head on the surface and moved it. Then i put the gpx over the same ground and The gpx exploded into the blistering song of gold choas. did a suface scrape and the the sound got louder. Dug down out came the sweetest half oz i have seen. Pure as well. Been a while since i have found a good size nugget.Stayed for a while longer and the temperature rises quickly even in the early autumn.Lots of biting bugs and march flies so i decided i had a got morning and headed for home.My mate got a few small pieces but luck came my way today.

Thanks all for the replies. Heading out in about an hour for more digging. Had make quick repairs to my digging pick and get some insect repellant. would have gone out early but sunday morning i take my wife out for "her time" lol.

Hey There Tinpan,
I "play" in the Sierras of Northern California, I backpack in with "all" my gear and then go play once I've made camp. I "try" to use my GMT while I'm out there but so far I've not found anything, honestly thought the problem is not the machine its me as my time is limited each year and I've just not gotten enought practice with the machine. Ok, back to where I was going. Thank you for sharing your find with us, its a beautiful gold nugget! I can usually pan some flour gold, I've found a few pieces that I consider to be nuggets {but others do not} and I like the out of doors so much that the little gold I find does not really matter.

I do the same thing! I'll be in the Sespes next weekend for 3 days. I get up to the Sierras 2 times a year. Last April I was hunting around the mono lake craters.

thanks all for the replies and Finding a another nugget might be zero .Started my 5 day easter holiday and hope too get out later today. Hoping Black Allen will ring me , hes coming down my way for Easter be nice to hunt with another TN member.
