NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

Met this guy through the base Fire Chief at where I work a while back and asked him to take some pictures to share.. He has found all this over the years with just a Eye Detector, Most of this was found in the caves here that cover Island from WWII. The rifle he found still in firing condition..., That is all I can say at this time!! They said they found it in the mud and was well preserved by it.
He has sold a lot at the Flea Market due to having no job at present!
I guess I would have more of this type of things if I had consentrated on WW II areas...I have leaned more toward the old coins a hair pens,,etc and have kind of avoided these areas due to all the bomb and rounds metal in the ground.
Anyway, Just something to share..

The Japanese Hand Grenades were made of porcelain at the end of the war due to lack of metal..

Re: NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

I am going to try and trace the name ion the American dog tag and see if he was killed on Okinawa...If not try and see if he will return it to the family! I was thinking the Dog Tags from WWII was a little different.. I will check it out anyway!

The cans and other metal containers were part of the artillery guns..Oil cans and things like that!

I like my coin with the bullet hole the best! HAHA ;D

Re: NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

i would definantly trace the u.s. dogtags...most i have seen from ww2 had a tooth notch in them.....you may could trace it from his social security number on tag......the small glass pointed ampule with brown liquid is most probably morphine........gldhntr

Re: NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

Yes, I remember the tooth notch tags, Maybe these came out toward the end or they are from the military that has been here ever since! The Japanese are the real thing I think!

Re: NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

I agree about the dogtags... here they are so they are readable...

Re: NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

Thanks for the invert on the tags!!
They look like the type we had when I was in! Maybe they were lost by some of they guys exploring the caves here in the 60's and 70's There was a club here that was called the tunnel rats that went around looking for this stuff and then putting it in a museum on base..They also have a nice collection along with my Uncle's scrap book!

Re: NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

Wish I could find a cave like that.

A) Nope, I had mine notched in WW-2.

Re: NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

i have my fathers and my uncles, both from ww2,, both sets notched.....most don't know the notch was to fit between teeth and force jaw shut on which would wedge it between teeth into gum, in case you came across deceased, you could do this and pilferers couldn't remove the tag, which would make identification impossible back then........the second tag was to be turned in to superiors if by chance you came across an unfortunant dental patient......course this all might have been a wild story for a kid to chew on too.........anyone know ? gldhntr

I found James and his squad all dead in a circular formation of foxholes, surrouded by dead Japanese in theri foxholes afer the main battle for Guadalcanal had ceased. I found his dog tag in my momentos in 94, one had stayed with him. and decided to see if my report of his death had been investigated.

Re: NAHABIT's TWIN BOTHER IN JAPAN!!!" AMAZING WAR STUFF!!

HI: Incidentally dog tags came in pairs, one to remain with the causualty, the other to go to the grave registration. James and his squad, had both of them, so I assumed that they had not been found or reported before
