Mytimetoshine

Excuse me but I need to ask, from the 1st of May through the 6th of May the NFAR water flow has steadily increased from 3000 cfs to 5000 cfs - is this due to storms(snow or rain) or have the temperatures just been going up?? Thank you.................63bkpkr

We had a few 90 degree plus days, all that snow melt is coming down!

Saturday I met up with Sideways Sherry and Sample Pan Dan for some fun in the sun, only there was no sun!

I also brought my 8year old daughter Ava in hope of her finally having a good time mining for gold since others were around I though she might have more fun... no such luck.

It had been 90 all week so I dressed her in Capri pants and a tank top. Hat the hat, sunscreen and I even hauled in a chair for her and a cooler full of snacks. it turned out to be overcast and a little cooler but by no means cold. First thing Ava says is she is freezing...lol. I gave her my jacket with Hood that covered her from head to toe...still she is cold. She wouldn't do anything but sit in the chair curled up and asking me when we are leaving....sigh.. then she hit me with multiple bathroom request lol...after the 2nd trip back to the parking lot I decided to call it a day and take her home.

I guess she hasn't been inflicted with the fever yet..oh well. one can hope! 20170510_213642.jpg

Despite weather and daughter I'm jealous!

Gold mining always more fun with family! Nice little pile of gold makes it even better!

MTTS,
Good on Ya for bringing your daughter with you, there will be that time when she will have a good time though you might need to spend more time with her than prospecting at least at first. I began bringing my children with me along the NFAR trails in 1970 as each child turned 4 years of age, swimming and playing with them was first on the list then there was the first time my daughter (born in 1966) caught her first fish, psychologically she was Hooked! Then of course there are the evenings curled up together at the campfire after a good meal and me telling her (them) true stories of my childhood. And pictures of the trips to share with each other as well as those at home. Also enjoying butterflies and lizards was a real plus for them. I stayed especially close to my children on these trips as the rattle snakes are there and I did not want any of my children to be bitten. As they got up around 18 and they were carrying a .22 with bird shot I did not stay quite as close to them but still to this day I watch out for my children. Keep trying as the memories are so special!..................63bkpkr

Welp.. it's official! I'm in the 1oz club!!!

...no. I didn't find an ounce nugget..(yet). BUT, in my brief gold mining career I finally crossed that 31g mark. All fines 😐, but gold is gold, every flake was wild caught and I'm proud of my accomplishment.

Now to work on ounce #2 and maybe one day..maybe that nugget we all dream and stay awake at night thinking about.

Well I know... and thats all that matters

That's why I do it in the first place. I started this "hobby" with something to prove. Not to anybody else cause caring what others think, has always been a waste of time, but To myself. It's been a very, very rewarding experience to say the least. I now have mining in my blood, literally. Thanks for the kind words AUfisher!!

Congrats. Quick run to the saloon and spend it on booze. Buy everyone a drink. 😁...envisions of the gold rush days.

Last week's after work diggins. A couple trips, maybe 5 or 6 hours of total digging and sluicing. Not much excitement or story to tell but getting a good workout lately. Just me, my shovel and my Bazooka Prospector and the fresh air. Better then any gym out there.😉20170514_172900.jpg

That's livin'!

Seems like I usually pull 0.4 grams any time I get out so I am loving your piles of gold lol

I think you meant .04?..And I still get those sometimes too. lol. Sometime those areas drive me nuts because the overall gold deposit can still be quite large and my mind just runs wild thinking of out of the box ways to get it.

Had many a 0.004 gm days too!

I'm so behind this season, only been out twice in 2017 :( I'm glad to see your still going strong and getting the gold. Hopefully I can start getting out since my spring to do list is starting to dwindle.. we need to get a few overnighters in this year!

Back out on Saturday with no kids. I slept in an started the dig at 2pm then called it at about 630. Flows were down a little so I had to move my dig a bit, no big deal. Ran into a guy named Jason who was there the weekend before when apparently Ava left a small plastic scoop. Jason saw me and immediately went over to his pack and got it for me. I hadn't even realized I lost it yet. It was really nice of him.

The gold was just slightly better in this spot but we shall see if it lasts.

I'm down, I have to put in for Vacation days at least a month ahead of time at work so I need dates, send me a text or pm,
