Last Sunday while searching my usual (never-ending gold supply) stretch of sand here in Singapore, I found this one ring that I first thought was gold, as it had no corrosion typical of wet-salt-sand finds. But later in the day I dismissed it as being a toy, as I had never seen this color stone before, and the ring had no jeweler’s markings inside.
Then I took it to a jeweler here and he looked at it and said it was citrine, and most likely a gold ring. He said the ring looked custom made to fit the stone, and probably made-to-order. This is definitely a keeper, and maybe worth $300.
But yesterday I left it overnight with another jeweler who said he examined the stone in detail and this is not citrine, but a very nice cut of Imperial Topaz. He further stated that the ring was custom made, but he appraised it at $600-$700.
So now I need a third opinion before I feel comfortable with the ID.
This is such a fun hobby!
