Headed out early so as to beat the traffic of morning rush. Glad it becomes light earlier now. Got there to beat the parking toll booth attendant too. Sweeeet! :headbang: :headbang: ($8.00 during the week, $10.00 on the weekend). Went down the steps to the little beach area and found two deep crushed beer cans in the dry sand. Just threw those out. Got a gardening trowel too, just threw it out. Ironically I also found a plastic Army man with a metal detector....lol Headed to the waters edge next....

Found squat for the first half hour, then, when in the shallower water, got a faint signal. Dug and dug and dug. Signal kept gettin' louder. Finally at about three feet, I dug up this thing, pictured below. Encrusted and heavy, ...my luck probably a coffee can filled with concrete to serve as a small boat anchor...lol. Brought it home and it's soaking in a bucket of fresh water. So now what ??? I don't know how to go about the electrolysis method or build one ... I will be chipping away at it over the weekend. I'll post the finale later..

Hope all the pics post in one posting....If not, look for the next post ...

Skipper.

This is going to take awhile....I have little patience for this one. Found out how to make a reverse electrolysis bucket online. But...I may have to use a hammer instead...

Mystery solved...Sorry folks....Not a canaster of gold coins, that's for sure....It's an old battery from a lantern type flashlight. It's an older type that has eroded away and the battery and casing was left... Oh well, at least I cleaned up the environment at the beach.

Hey Skipper You get an A+ for effort , Guzz1`

hehehe....

What a great story, thanks for the effort.

I was wondering if the guy that threw it out ever had any idea at how much time would be spent digging it back up!

The next one will be a chest filled with gold coins, just gotta keep digging
