Mystery Lead Part II from Civil War area

Some of you may remember this post from a few weeks back. Well, to deepen the mystery, perhaps, I have now found one with THREE screws. Again, it looks like lead was poured into something.

I also found this small oval plate, appears to be brass, in the same hole as above. I doubt they are in any way related, but does it look like anything to you guys?

It is the lead weight from a 1920's golf club.

when they were tearing up the golf greens to put new ones in @ the fredericksburg country club a few years back we found a couple of these.. at first I thought it was heel plates but then found out they werent. neat find tho

Yes, it's solved. They drilled the head of the club, then ran a screw/screws into it to give the lead something to grip, removed the screws,
poured lead, and "walh-la" you have a weighted golf club. Mystery solved. Certainly was a head scratch-er on that first one, I couldn't figure
out why someone would pour lead into a screw hole.
