I went out to NC over the last 3 days for a natural hunt event called DigStock, which sucked. So, I went door knocking and got some private permissions. I'm happy overall with a Barber quarter, IHP, a really cool key, and a few buttons. I also dug a copper item that looks like it may be a coin but not sure. It's pretty smooth and I'm not seeing any markings but maybe someone here could help identify it? It measures about 1mm thick and Ø 22.15 mm - 23.96 mm depending on where it is measured.

Very nice finds!
Might I suggest for the first layer of cleaning, an old toothbrush and some liquid dish soap, (not liquid comet or anything abrasive) under running water.
If it needs further cleaning try using an eraser from a pencil.
If it needs more, then try soaking it in Acetone (which is Not an acid, rather a solvent, and won’t hurt the metal) then rinsing under water.
If those don’t work, then it may be past identifying.
Again, very nice finds, Congrats!!

Thanks for the tips. I have tried Andre pencils which the kit has a steel wool tipped tool I used as well. Not really sure I know how to use these instruments, but me scrapping it w/those and using olive oil mixed with oxalic acid has left the item looking pretty much the same. Sorry to say that I think it is just past identifiable.

Defiantly a Railroad track penny. I grew next to a rail line and as a Kid we squished many pennies  And even some dimes nickel's and quarters.
