I agree Don. But it still looks like it could have some age to it. The letters look old.

Not a lot to go on but only possible clue is the character circled in red. So, possible Ferdinand II of Aragon as ruler of Castille - late 15thC to early 16thC ? Just a thought....

I thought the character you circled in the OPs post was either a Roman "II",designating the partial ID of the reigning monarch or the denomination of the coin; versus an "N" as in your post symbolizing that letter in the name Regi"N"a.
I'm still open to the idea the coin may not be from Spain; hopefully, someone will ID it's origin.

I just have to say that the coin is a copper coin, if that can help you guys. Deepsecrets proposal looks possible.

I will try to get a picture of the other side from my buddy it is his coin.
