mason3.jpgmason2.jpgmason1.jpgHi guys I just recently found this item on the immigrant trail. I believe it to be a bronze wax seal. Its diameter is 3/4" and it is 1and 1/4" long. It was found along with a flat button with no markings. I want to know how old it is and what is the significance of the symbol. ~Thankyou

Can't help you without a photo. Just above the box you are typing in there is a bar with a smiley face and font info etc. Third over from the right is a square. Click on it and it opens and tells you what file your photo has to be in. You have four choices, I always use .jpg or .jpeg, which actually are the same file. Anyhow, click on browse, click on the picture you want to load, click on "upload files," and you got it.

Hmm don't have that on my phone I'll do it later tonight. Thank you for the help. Can't wait to see if you know anything about my seal. I have never seen one like it before.

To me your seal looks Masonic except there is no "G" in the center of the compass, I still think the guy that lost it was probably a mason. There were lots and lots of Masons in the early days of this country. You say you found it on an immigrant trail, without giving your location away, which trail. Oregon, overland, Mormon? Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, back east on an earlier trail? Years ago I worked on a ranch in Nevada that had lots of immigrant trail history, and I found some really interesting stuff.

I agree, typical Mason's square and compass. Sometimes found without the center G which stands for God.
