"Mysterious Metal" washing up on Gulf Coast Beaches???

I've found it at Naples and Marco as well. Less at Marco..
 

They look like chunks of iron to me. We find them in abundance in certain areas on the east coast as well, one of them being Colored Beach south of Ft. Pierce, where one of Mel Fisher's treasure hunting barges broke up in the surf many years ago.

What a pain that is too..especially at the south end.
 

I found quite a bit of that, some with paint attached to one side at Nags Head NC in June when I was there. I just figured it was rusted out iron/steel from some wrecked ship off the coast.

You'll also find alot on beaches that have been replenished.
It comes from the barge,machinery and pipes used to transport the sand in.
