Quarter for scale. This will be my second unidentifiable what I think is a large cent in the last few weeks. Going to try to clean it now. 50785339737__23AECA80-857A-406E-92C0-353581BB4675.JPG

Nice, That is one big coin!

Sorry, not sure what it is. Pretty toasted- but if you look, I think I see a guy looking to the right, with a bow at the back of his neck, and a big nose!

Could this be colonial? I live in a very
old town and Washington's Army marched by about a 1/4 mile away according to landmark signs. I have found a 1775 British half cent in my yard.

When comparing this and the other unidentifiable coin I found to my readily identifiable large cent, both of these- what I thought were large cents are much thinner and also both in much worse shape which could mean older?...

Nice old copper recovery! :occasion14:

Found it online- and now that I know where to look, I can get close on the date as well- it is a 178x half penny. I can see the 8 under where the lady with the staff is sitting on the backside.

2nd oldest identifiable coin for me. :)

I bet my other completely toasted one is also a half penny.
