My wife and I went out today to an old church from the late 1800’s. The land was donated to the church in 1878. My wife made out very well and I found a lot of beer tabs.🤣
She found a broad axe head from around the 1840’s and a chain I believe from a horse drawn wagon. I think it was from the wagon tree. The chain was found near the site of an old log cabin slave house. I think she did an awesome job today! FullSizeRender.jpeg

I’m going to use electrolysis to clean it. Will it clean the area where the handle was? I’d think so but thought I’d ask.
It doesn't clean the area where the handle was very well. I use an old file to dig away at the rust when the outside of the axe is done. If you can find yourself a piece of flat stock cold roll steel, it does an excellent job of cleaning rust off of items.

Nice finds :) Nice pictures thanks for sharing with us

Here is what I’m using; an ice cream bucket as a container. I use a very large iron nail as the sacrificial metal. I use 3 TBS of Arm & Hammer washing soda mixed per 1/2 gallon of tap water. The little plug-in DC transformer is my power source. I just checked, and my 12VDC unit is actually giving almost 15VDC. It varies. I tried an automotive battery charger initially. It was a smart charger and could sense that the resistance was wrong. It didn’t work for me. Check YouTube there are many channels of good info. Good luck🍀 follow all safety recommendations
Thank you very much for the information. I really appreciate it!
