My very first real FIND!

a 1944 mercury dime! I have been detecting for just under a month now with no real finds, when suddenly BAM! I could not believe my eyes when i saw this beauty! Any and all frustration I may have had up until now was well worth it. I am a believer!!!

The odd thing is, I found it in a volleyball court of all places. That thing must have been sitting in there for damn near 70 years!

Consider yourself lucky--took me six months to dig my first silver coin (a Merc too) and I even had toupgrade detectors!

Congrats! I've only been at it a couple months and remember the thrill when I found my first silvers. All in my own yard, two mercs and a quarter, and sat night I found an arrowhead. I'm obsessive about this sort of stuff, just jumped to MD'ing from a very expensive RC car hobby this summer and must say I think this one will last with me.

I've even started coin roll hunting at the post office I work at, much to the annoyance of my fellow window clerks.

congrats on your silver merc dime I dug my first in about 18 days at an old school yard and have probably found 20 since I started seriousely 4 years ago. You'll find alot more silver out there just be paitient and dig everything.. HH and many more dimes quarters and one day you'll hit gold then the bug will have bit your and you'll really be hooked...
